Treasure
It was one of those days where you think you have the day planned, but it turns into something entirely different. I had planned to dog-sit a friend's dogs this weekend and go to a play with friends tonight. My Dad had surgery earlier today and there were a few minor complications. I called my Mom around 3pm and it was evident that I needed to be at the hospital, not only to support my Dad, but to support her as well. *Note to all: if your loved ones are in the hospital: be there. If your friends' loved ones are in the hospital, go visit them. Or at least support them in some tangible way.
Anyway, I quickly found someone else to dog-sit and take my ticket for the evening, and headed up to Greensboro. I can't even recall how many times I've been here this summer, but I'm not complaining. Perhaps after last summer, I've realized just how special my family is to me. When I walked into the hospital (which happens to be right next to the cancer center... too soon!), I went to see dear 'ol Pops. He wasn't looking good as he was in quite a lot of pain, although the morphine helped. :) Mom, Lu & I stayed for a while, rubbing his feet and asking every 2 minutes if he needed anything. When it was time to leave I burst into tears and made sure that the nurses would take excellent care of him.
Last night I was g-chatting with my Dad wishing him a good surgery when I asked for advice about something going on in my life. His response: "Advice? Same as always: if your treasure is Christ, you always have your treasure." Tonight, right before we left, and through tears I asked him if Christ was his treasure. He said through the pain, and without even thinking: "oh yes, yes he is".
I am honored to have him as my Dad.

Sweetest picture ever
Oh, just found this picture of me & that Ginna girl from a couple weeks ago on FB. I feel like we look like we're 6 years old with our french braid ponies. I'm the luckiest girl to have two wonderful sisters. Lucy went to the beach this past weekend and passed through Charlotte twice see me. Oh how I love them so!
Weekend Update
It was a really busy weekend...
We had a going away party for a few girls in our life group last week.
My lovely friend Addie!
My Dad went into the hospital on Thursday for an abscess on his appendix. Not fun. I made it up there on Friday to see my poor Paparoni. I got to visit with him, my mom & the O'Steens who were in town. It was a blast to be together, even though we were in the hospital. I'm sure it's a little weird to take a picture in the hospital, but I just love my Dad & hope he feels better!
Saturday my friend Chris & I went to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. I've been dying to go here, so it was great to check out some of Charlotte's finest pieces of art. This was a favorite of the many pieces we saw. I love the colors.
I also decided to have a cook-out last minute at my house on Saturday night. It was really fun and I had 7 guys here, a married woman and myself. It made me realize that I need to find more girl friends in Charlotte. Actually what it really means is my roomies need to come home from their adventures! I made my famous summer dinner: homemade bbq, brioche buns, an apple slaw and homemade chocolate chip cookies (of course!). After dinner, a few of the guys stayed around and we played Settlers of Catan, which is the official game of Summer 2010.
I love summer; life is good.
