A day in the life

I just love this picture for so many reasons. Mainly because it perfectly shows his personality!

We were about to leave and I asked Wil-man to go inside and get a shirt on (since we had been at the pool) and he came back out in Mar's winter jacket. He cracks me up. I'm also making the boys work on math and reading this summer and he brought his math worksheet to do in the car.

Some days I feel like I have the best job in the whole world!

Wedding Weekend

It was a wedding weekend in the mountains! We had such a fun time celebrating Michelle & Aaron Ray. I'm definitely going to make a FB album (tomorrow, Al!) and put more pictures up here sometime this week.

Hope yall are having fun on your honeymoon!

Happiest day of the year!

I had every good intention of hosting a dinner party tonight to celebrate one of my favorite days of the year: Summer Solstice! But I'm sick. Or I was sick but now I'm just a little "under the weather". Either way, I wasn't up for much... which meant summer roomie and I sat on the couch with our laptops and watched The Bachelorette. What a silly show. Perhaps I'm just old fashioned and don't think the way to find your soulmate is to have a bunch of producers pick out a handful of men and have you choose "the one" in front of America. I understand it's for ratings and all, but the last place that I'd want to be is in her shoes. I get that she's scared (as confessed tonight), and I would be too! Your heart is not something to give to just anyone.

Well that was my little rant for the night. Hope you had a wonderful longest day of the year, and perhaps a dinner party to celebrate, too! :)

Weekend Update

Last night I went to Mar's dance recital. The cuteness 'bout killed me.

It was a fun & relaxing weekend. I had my parents and a friend over for dinner on Saturday night. I made these buns to go along with hamburgers. The recipe calls for a double rising and I put them outside to rise in the 90 degree heat which worked perfectly! I also made this cobbler which was also quite tasty.
Hope you have a great week! I'm off to the hospital! :)

Weekend Update

What a fun weekend it was in Charlotte!

Friday night I had a game night at my house. We played Balderdash and who knew that P.U.F.F. meant 'People United to Fight Frustrations'?!

A few people brought appies/dessert and my friend Josh rolled in with a bag of avocados, coconut milk and cinnamon sugar. Say whaat? Never have I ever heard of such a thing! He mashed up the avocados, mixed in some milk and sugar and voila! a dish served with cinnamon sugar tortilla chips and he got the award for most creative! I was so impressed, or maybe I'm just the last to know about it? Either way, yum.

Saturday afternoon I had the pleasure of hanging out with Erin & Henry while Dave took the CFA test in Charlotte. We hung out in Uptown where there was a superhero conference next door. We saw Superman walking across the street and it felt like we were back in NYC with the crazies.

Henry was so good while E & caught up. It was fun to think that the next time I'll see them, they will have a new addition :)

I came home and Cait and I had quite the task of killing a palmetto bug the size of South Carolina. I mean, really, it was huge. We threw shoes at it, I used a hair dryer to get it off the ceiling and then we brought the sucker down with a combined effort of hair spray and static cling spray. We were quite exhausted afterwards.

Sunday after church a bunch of us went to Cabo Fish Taco and I cannot stress how much I LOVE fish tacos. I then came home to take a 4 hour nap. FOUR HOURS! A record. Later that evening we went to Pops in the Park. But, sadly, it got rained out.

Caitlin and Sarah with the strawberry shortcake, Twizzlers and some of Chris' homemade wine. Why so sad, Steve Martin?

Since Pops was rained out, we brought the party back to our house for a FUN game of telephone pictionary. I am still laughing just looking at the pictures from last night. What you do is everyone starts off with a piece of paper and you write down a sentence (see below). "Darth Vader played poker with Bill Clinton." Then the next person has to draw it and cover up the previous sentence and pass it along to the next person. You get the idea. By the time it's over this one read "The Indians came to kill the king the night of his 40th birthday". Try this at your next game night- hilarious!

Trash the dress

Have yall heard about this? I hadn't until Lucy was going to do a "trash the dress" shoot in Wilmington, NC. Here's a picture she took:

And then my roommate told me about a friend who did the same thing. The photographer is Tracy Turpen and apparently this couple first met at Wendy's and incorporated that into the trashing of the dress. Looks like a lot of fun, but I don't think I could ever do that to my own wedding dress. Thoughts?

New in town

This past weekend I helped that Ginna girl unpack and settle into her new life in RALEIGH! We decorated, cleaned, laughed, and broke in the new kitchen with homemade biscuits for breakfast. Welcome to the South, Gin!
